Known as nastar (ananas tart), it is a traditional dessert from South East Asia. It is believed that the Pineapple Poppers traced their roots all the way back to the Dutch colonial time in Indonesia. The pineapple itself originated from Brazil and was spread throughout the world by the merchants and explorers and introduced to Asia, the Middle East and Europe via the Ancient Silk Road.
